Drop-Dead-Gorgeous Clutch

So this isn't about scarves or how to clean scarves or how to tie scarves. This post has nothing to do with scarves lol but I really wanted to write about this amazingly-cute-and-oh-my-gosh-drop-dead-gorgeous item I picked up the other day.

So I was shopping at my local TJ MAX and had no intention of buying purses but decided to stop by that section anyways and there it was. Just sitting there! Waiting for me! Can you hear the obsession?? It was love at first sight.

It's so vintage looking and has this aurora that makes it look so fab. It's covered entirely in a beautiful tone of champagne-colored satin and embedded with gorgeous satin-wrapped pearls that drape across both sides of the clutch. Attached to the top of the clutch is a short chain that is just the right length. It's perfect for a late night outing and just the right black high heels.

I wish I had enough of these to give to each one of my beautiful fans. If you're interested, it's made by Sondra Roberts, New York.
Thank you so much for reading and I hope you ladies have a wonderful weekend.

Proper Scarf Care:: Why you should stop machine washing your scarves

Love your scarves by taking good care of them especially those with a very delicate material or those that are covered with a top shiny layer.
Pashmina scarves are some of the softest and most comforting scarf materials to the human skin. If you're anything like me, you'll know what it's like to come across a rack of pashmina scarves at any store. I usually walk past it because i know i already have a ton at home but end up taking a few steps back and just feeling the material and admiring the amazing glossy appearance. Well I made the mistake once of machine washing one of these and then throwing it in the dryer. WORST MISTAKE EVER!! Next thing I know, my pashmina has lost all its sparkliness and the material was completely washed out. It was later thrown into my pile of worn out/dull scarves. So moral of the story: NEVER EVER machine wash or dry your scarves.

Although the best way to take care of your scarves is dry cleaning them, you can also handwash them if you are careful and follow a couple of rules and guidelines:

  • Always use cold water
  • Add detergent (like a drop or two of baby shampoo) and make sure the detergent is completely dissolved first
  • Hand wash very carefully. Pay close attention not to pull hard and damage the material.
  • Lay flat to dry
  • Warm ironing them should not be a problem but to retain your scarf's glow for a longer period of time, try placing a piece of cloth between the iron and the scarf.
C'est tout! That's all!
Hope this helps you ladies with proper scarf care

Be sure to check out our line of pashmina scarves featured on our online boutique for a ton of color variety. Écharpe à la Mode will also be stocking up on more colors soon.

Pairings: Elegance in Apricot

A lot of people have been asking me for ideas on how to go about to pairing the featured Elegance in Apricot Scarf at Écharpe à la Mode I would like to take a minute to talk to you ladies about my absolute love for pastels. Im attracted by the simplicity and elegance of how the colors look when paired with just the right fashion pieces. The colors have been big for quite some time now and continue as very popular colors for Spring/Summer 2012. Im also BIG BIG BIG on layering. I think layering adds dimension and a unique flare to any outfit. Experimenting wit layering could also be very tricky. Too much layering could sometimes be overwhelming and confusing so make sure to keep it simple and chiq when picking and choosing how many layers to slip on.

Pick an outfit to match the scarf

You know how most people pick a scarf to go with their outfit? Weeelll let's just say I do the exact opposite. So I pick an outfit to match my scarf. Why?? Well, it's because i think a scarf is more than an accessory. It's not an extra piece that could be dealt without. It is a symbol of completeness like icing on a cake. This is why each scarf should be picked with ultimate respect to detail, material and dimensions.

Pick an outfit to match the scarf

So for the longest time ever, I was only making use of only a couple of my scarves. More specifically, the dark colored ones just because my outfits best matched with those scarves. I got ahold of a couple of bright solid-colored pashmina scarves and then ended up throwing them in one of my drawers and completely forgetting about them because never really wore an outfit that could go with one of those scarves. I eventually got bored because being the person I am, I enjoy change every once in a while which is why I've found that my style has drastically changed over the years. Sometimes twice a year. I opened my drawer and found all those beautiful pashmina scarves laying there and I decided "Why not pick an outfit to match the scarves that I DO want to wear rather than picking an outfit and matching it with a scarf that Im simply bored of?"

I went from I need a scarf to match my outfit to I need an outfit to match my scarf.I think it's good to break the routine every once in a while and change things up a bit.
